General Employment Information

Because DECI is a specialized industry that provides work, vocational evaluation, vocational skill training, job placement and vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, we try to employ staff with skills and talents related to our purpose. The objective in selecting a new staff member is to select the individual best qualified for our position, without regard to characteristics unrelated to job performance.

All positions require a minimum of high school diploma or GED. Some positions may require specialized training and/or a college degree

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

SERVICE COORDINATOR/JOB PLACEMENT

High school diploma or GED required, related 4-year college degree preferred. Position requires experience or education in social work, counseling, education, or vocational rehabilitation. Marketing and relationship building experience will be considered a plus. Excellent communication and strong organizational skills will be vital. This individual must be physically able to complete manual labor tasks as part of training for individuals served and must be capable of being certified in North Carolina Physical Intervention. This position will require carrying a pager 24/7 and personal vehicle use.

Requires flexible availability (including nights and weekends).

Sample duties include:  Assisting individuals in marketing themselves to employers, finding and maintaining work in jobs in the local community & working flexible hours depending on job placements; developing and implementing job-training, behavior plans and appropriate interventions to achieve vocational goals as defined in each individual’s plan; demonstrating and performing various types of work within DECI or at a competitive worksite; providing individual or group counseling and training/learning opportunities that promote good work ethic, work attitude & current work skills to assist individuals in achieving placement success.
