Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
A Statement from DECI’s
Board of Directors
We, the community of Members of the Board of Directors, Leaders, and Employees of DECI, publicly and openly commit to recognizing and embracing difference, and ensuring all people, viewpoints, and ideas are considered and included in how we make decisions and provide our services. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of all people is at the core of what we do, and who we are.
Adapting to a Changing World
As an organization that has served our community since 1966, we know that the landscape in which we provide our services is ever-changing. DECI will continue to evaluate and update its policies and procedures while safeguarding diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strive to be a leader in the vocational rehabilitation space, committed to being open to feedback and willing to improve and update our approach to better serve those seeking our services. We seek to do this by opening more lines of communication with all internal and external stakeholders and incorporating information gained into our professional framework. This framework includes policies and procedures, training, and organizational culture.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help people with vocational disabilities to achieve a sense of self-worth by optimizing their potential to earn their wages through work. We believe in the power of CHOICE for all individuals – those who choose to receive our services, as well as those who choose to join our staff and board. We commit to the inclusion of all types of people in decision-making processes as we want to be the organization of choice for our community.
