Earlier this week, our Director of Advocacy and Outreach, Sonja Beckford, along with staff members Todd Williams and Ricky Hargrave, proudly represented DECI during the NCARF Virtual Day of Action—a vital statewide push to reverse recent cuts to North Carolina Medicaid funding.

The team participated in meetings with key state officials and legislators, including Representative Sarah Crawford (Wake County), to voice strong support for fully funding the Medicaid rebase and rolling back the harmful 3%, 8%, and 10% rate cuts that threaten services for people with disabilities, seniors, and children across our state.

Why It Matters:
These Medicaid cuts directly impact access to care, family support, and provider sustainability. DECI and its peers are urgently calling for the $690 million in agreed-upon funding to be restored to safeguard the future of inclusive services like ours.

Our Message:
Protect access to Medicaid for vulnerable communities.
Stabilize care for families who rely on essential services.
Support the workforce that powers our disability and healthcare systems.
We’re grateful to Sonja, Todd, and Ricky for being powerful voices in this critical movement—and we encourage everyone at DECI to stay informed and engaged as advocacy efforts continue.
